Arrr Matey! Pirates!

I am pretty sure the pirate cake and cupcakes were some of my favorites I've ever made. I love the color combination with the blue, white and red. I'm so pleased with how these turned out! It always amazes me what you can do with buttercream. Plus, the mom of the birthday kids is a photographer, and she snapped this fantastic photo of the finished product. Thanks Andrea!

Princess Giraffe cake

So this is quite possibly the strangest combination of themes I've ever had to work with, LOL. This cake was for a grown-up party (fun for me, since I've mostly had requests for kid cakes!) and the guest of honor is a big fan of princesses and giraffes. So....this is what we came up with! It is all buttercream, and I freehanded the giraffe spots. They wanted light pink, hot pink, and black/white for the colors. The crown was a final touch added by the customer.

Double Birthday - Wow Wow Wubbzy and Hello Kitty

My little girl turned four years old and we celebrated with one of her friends who was also turning four! I made cakes for both of them - a Wow Wow Wubbzy cake complete with Kickity Kick Ball for Jackson and a Hello Kitty Ballerina cake for my daughter Daniela. I wanted them to look somewhat similar (size, base color) but distinct enough so they'd each have their own special cake. I wrote "Happy 4th Birthday Daniela" and "Happy 4th Birthday Jackson" on the sides of the cake. The Wubbzy cake is egg-free...but you'd never know it by looking at the picture!

Racecar!

This was a last minute cake for a friend's son's birthday. She put the toy car on the "track" just before serving the cake (so it isn't in the photo). The sides of the cake are black and white checkerboard pattern. As always, it's all buttercream!

Strawberry Shortcake

Some people hate using the character shaped pans...I think they are fun! I made this Strawberry Shortcake cake for a friend's daughter's birthday. It was (of course!) strawberry cake too! I forgot to take a picture of this one, so it's a photo from the birthday mom with the candle already in it at the party.
