A royal day

Today I had two separate cake orders. One was for a Cinderella doll cake, and one for a castle. I love love love making the doll cakes - I had one when I was a little girl for my fourth birthday and I think it always sticks out in my mind as something special. Hopefully I can help give that special memory to other little girls!

The Cinderella cake is the Wilton Wonder Mold with an 8" round yellow cake below it for added height and servings. I used all buttercream to decorate the Cinderella doll provided by the birthday girl's mom. I used tip 104 to create the white swag around Cinderella's hips on the dress, and to create the swag around the central part of the cake, as well as the bows. The pink drop flowers were tip 2D, and the rosettes around the bottom were tip 16. The hardest part is icing the bodice part of the dress onto the doll's body! I'm pretty happy with how this one turned out though =)

The second cake of the day was a castle cake for another 3 year old birthday girl. This was my first time using the Wilton Romantic Castle Cake Set. The mom didn't want a tiered cake, so we did what we could with a 9x13 sheet cake. I think it turned out pretty good!

I used all buttercream to decorate this cake (are you noticing the buttercream trend with my cakes? lol). I used the grass tip for the bottom border, and tip 3 for the flower stems. Tip 30 made the pink flowers, and tip 4 for all the blue outlining on the windows, doors and turrets.

  1. Wow! Both of those cakes took a lot of work I'm sure. They look great! I'm sure those kids were over the moon. =)
